That looks beautiful. Well done. You should be very proud. I haven’t made one this year, much to my husbands disappointment. If I am up to it next year I may do my own baking again. I feel ashamed I just haven’t got the energy to do Christmas Hope you have an amazing Christmas. What an inspiration. Xx

I didn't have the energy last year. I usually make one every year, the family love it though. It last forever, usually end up cutting it up & putting in the freezer. Perfectly fine when defrosted. :) Happy Christmas to you too xx

Well done. I am/was a sugar craft lady and making cakes for family and friends..tiny flowers and leaves. Sadly no more as hands have gone to Ra mode. I cheated this year and went to M&S....ashamed..........

LadyJan, there is no shame in cheating. As long as it taste as good as looks, then it's a winner.

I nicked the design of the cake off the internet, I haven't really got the imagination to think of anything myself! lol Used ready to roll icing & patience. The cake itself I make from an old recipe I've been using for years.

Don't feel ashamed lovely. We all have to cut ourselves some slack from time to time. I've had to "cheat" this year and bought ready rolled marzipan and icing as my hands are just too sore to consider rolling it out myself (doesn't help that I also took a chunk out of one of my already sore knuckles and it's still healing 3 weeks later!). So this year my cake theme will be pristine white snow field.

Beautiful cake, Ruthietootie2. You should be very proud but you put me to shame. I haven't baked at all this year and am deeply sad. Never much good at the decorating side I loved making the cakes, mincemeat and pies. Unfortunately, Himself is now diabetic, I don't like traditional Christmas food and neither do our kids and grandkids so no need. It feels like the end of an era. Merry Christmas

Looks good, Is that fondant icing ? I can't seem to literally handle it so i always do a royal icing instead.

in reply to CloudTreeDrive13

Yes it is. Most of my family prefer fondant icing. My nieces & nephews will just eat the icing :)

Yep. I know that feeling as the Grandchildren are the same. I even have to take a slice to work for the cook at our residential home. Another carer asked me to make her a cake but it was only a couple of weeks ago - too late. I make mine back in August.
