Hi--- I was advised against A Vera gel as it boosts the immune system , and people with RD need to reduce theirs , not boost it. 😊

Not the gel but sylvi reports using the aloe vera juice - I don't recall if anyone mentioned using the gel in the comments of sylvia's supplements post: healthunlocked.com/nras/pos................

I use the aloe Vera heat gel when my shoulder freezes and for my knees in winter, it smells quite strong but it’s very good, I recommend it!

As Jacki08 has said aloe vera stimulates the immune system, we're taking meds to suppress an overactive immune system, HCQ in your case but any DMARD or biologic. As with any supplement it's always best to ask your Rheumy before buying & trying, I believe it says such on this particular product. You can however apply natural aloe vera topically, it works very well as a skin calmer if you have a rash or taken too much sun. I had plenty of aloe vera in the garden & I used to cut a blade, squeeze the gel & apply, works a dream.
