Hey Kelly, which part of Texas? I'm in Plano (suburb of Dallas.)

I work in Plano - live in Keller. Small world!

Radiogirl profile image
Radiogirlβ€’ in reply toTxKelly

Wow! πŸ˜ƒ Yes, a small world, but you have a long commute for work. Is your rheumy's in Keller?

TxKelly profile image
TxKellyβ€’ in reply toRadiogirl

No my doc is in Plano. It's easier to see the doc closer to where I work than live. I miss less work time getting there and back. I work at JCP headquarters in Plano - do you? I'd be a really small world :)

I'm not working right now. For 6-7 years I was full time caregiver to my dad. We moved him in with us. He was 100% immobile and had late stage Alzheimer's. He passed away 3 years ago. Then I started helping take care of our first granddaughter.πŸ’“

My rheumy is in Allen, Dr. Lavery. It took me 3 months to get into him.

I'm having surgery next week, but maybe after I'm healed up a bit we could get together for coffee. I know there's a Starbucks in the Shops of Legacy. I think that is close to the JCP Corp headquarters, right? If you're up to it I could meet anywhere that is convenient in Plano.

Taking care of a parent is working! That must have been so tough.

I bet taking care of your granddaughter is fun. I don't have any yet.

What are you having surgery for (if you don't mind me asking)?

I'm not a coffee person - but I'd love to meet.

I'm having an Anterior Cervical Neck Fusion Surgery (C4-5 and C5-6) on the 26th. You name the place then! I'll look so forward to meeting you then, sometime soon. 🌸😊🌼

Hi Julie. If its any consolation, you don't look anywhere near 48 let alone 88.

I am 58 in age, but my body and brain feel like 90.

I have less energy than my 88 year old Grandma did before she passed away.

Julesb3 profile image
Julesb3β€’ in reply toLesley_1

Is there anything that helps with energy? It's starting to effect my job 😒

Mark_67 profile image
Mark_67β€’ in reply toJulesb3

When I had problems with energy levels I thought I needed more sleep. I was wrong; I needed more exercise. I slept much better and gradually my energy levels returned. It may not work for everyone but it's worth trying.

I started on a good multi vitamin and also a sublingual b12 vitamin. I really notice when I don't take them :)

Lesley_1 profile image
Lesley_1β€’ in reply toJulesb3

My Rheumatologist explained my blood tests to me this way. He said when the ESR and CRP are up, it affects red blood cells, iron, all the B vitamins and your body finds it harder to process what you need from your food.

He suggested a good Probiotic,Mega B multivitamins, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Vitamin E, Chromium, and selenium.

Over time I have added more, namely Ginseng and Gingko biloba.

He also said cut out all dairy, sugar and white flour as they are all inflammatory to the body. He said pot set yoghurts were ok.

I really struggle with that as I have a sweet tooth.

Hi Julie and all!! I'm Julia from Montana and I'm 58 and debating if I should say I feel like I'm 98 or feel like a newborn who needs to sleep 20/24 hours. My fatigue has reached an all time high. And we won't even start on the joint pain and shortness of breath from all the smoke.

I know it does get better, when I'm not flaring then I feel like I'm 38 and this disease doesn't control my life.

Here's to hope and remission!!!!

I have a large Homedics air filter cleaner in my bedroom. I can't have my bedroom window open as it's winter and people have log fires around here and our council is doing preventative burn offs in the lead up to bushfire season

I see this!! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌπŸ™πŸΌ Great place...nice meeting everyone and thanks for the welcome! Well, it's Friday night...Methotrexate day πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ I really do dread taking this medication....I will be sick for three days now 😱 Trying to stay positive & hoping I get used to this??? Do you ever get used to Methotrexate ?

JEM95 profile image
JEM95β€’ in reply toJulesb3

Yes, you do πŸ˜€ When I started on it I had horrible side effects. Over time my body has got used to it, tolerates it better now and it has given me some semblance of normal life again.

I inject now instead of pills - that helps a lot, plus I take folic acid (I call it frolic acid!) six days a week - that also helps.

It took months to really settle but it was so worth waiting for.

Keep positive! x
