I'm also about to go away on my first trip abroad since starting Benepali so interested in the replies you will get.

For me, even before I knew I had this disease or started meds, I always use Factor 50 Suncream. You still get a lovely colour and it lasts for months after you come home! So have packed loads this time! I try to stay out of the sun between 11.00am and 3.00pm when the sun is at it's hottest. We usually try to have our main meal of the day at lunch time so it takes up quite alot of that time. I've bought some more expensive sun cream for my face this year as you can't cover that up.

Hi Vonnie10 I have always believed a bit of sun on your back never did anyone any harm as you say avoid it at peak times and youll be fine, Im off to Scotland next week so not expecting to much sun buy looking forward to the rest.

Hi.

I went to Greece last year when I was on benepali and just made sure I always topped up my suncream and went in the shade when it was really hot.

I had no adverse effects of being in the sun and the rheumatologist told me that it was fine to go in the sun providing you are sensible about it.

I'm sure a lot depends on how you reacted to being in the sun before you were on any of the drugs we take.

If you burned after an hour or so of being in the sun, I guess you still will.

But if you could be in the sun & not have any adverse reactions & use plenty of suntan lotion, and don't lie in the sun hour after hour during the hottest part of the day you will probably be fine.

I have just been in the Canary Islands - I'm on RTX - & had no probs at all, but I have always been able to be in the sun on all the drugs I have taken, including after radiotherapy.
