Here's a link to a good article on Joint Protection - techniques to help you carry out daily life tasks to help protect your joints and minimise the risk of damage to joints over the long term. Hope you will find it useful. x

Thanks very much for this link - very useful advice.

A few years ago, I saw the Occupational Therapist who took me through my daily activities and showed me ways of avoiding strain on the joints. She also showed me things like how to get out of a chair and from the floor. And advised about aids to daily living (which I could buy). It was extremely useful.

But I have to admit that I forget sometimes and then the pain reminds me!

You're welcome. Did think it might be information that a lot of people might already know, but thought it might help some of those who are newly diagnosed, or a wee reminder for some too! x

This is helpful, many thanks :0)

When I asked, the OT at my hospital told me 'not to worry' about posture. I thought this was a bit odd so asked the physio at the same hospital, who said the same thing. I still think it's odd, so will follow the advice in this article!!

The principles of sitting well, having good posture etc are all good to follow most of the time, but personally I think some of the guidance in this article is unrealistic to expect someone to do that all the time - we're only human !! There's certainly no way I could follow their advice around sleeping!

No I couldn't sleep like that either! I think it's just good to have some guidelines to follow as and when I remember as nothing seems to line up now in quite the way it used to :0)
