Gullet discomfort
Yes! 😬
Mine seems to have got worse since going on mtx, last August. I do have a hiatus hernia though, had this for a long time, controlled by lansoprazol. Was also wondering if going back on Alendronate Acid the same time, maybe the cause.
When I was on tablets I did struggle from time to time, although more with ulcers. However since I switched to injections it's been fine.
Yes! Gastritis and acid refluct both controlled with medication.
Are you taking the methotrexate dose half in the morning with food and the other half in the evening with food. It helps!
I am glad I am not the only one with this. My Rheumatologist said it won't cause it and it's because I am fat. I have never had it before. I have recently had the flu so had to stop Mex and guess what no acid reflux at all! Back on it and the misery burn and weak voice. In the long term PPI's are only making it worse 2 gastro people told me, they said it can cause or aggravate SIBO and Gaviscon is safer or digestive enzymes. My stomach showed on a ct scan of my lung as not closing and assumed possible hernia. I have been too sick to have a UGI the gastro surgeon said there is very little they can suggest but I am soon going to try injections so lets see if by passing my sore stomach helps! I will think of you while my gullet burns too!
How dreadful and ignorant your rheumatologist's comment was. I wonder what he would say to a skinny person who had gullet problems with MTX? Would he blame the skinny person's big nose or crooked teeth?
Lot's of people turn to injecting mtx because the body absorbs the drug better and it is easier on your mouth & tummy.
I met several skinny people who's gullet was on fire but had bloated bellies from PPI's. I really hope injections help.
