Help I'm worried

So I got my total knee replacement on 22feb but I just had a respiratory test and it's a bit below where it should be. Will this affect me having my operation? He said it could be RA affecting the lungs or it's my methotrexate I'm on 8 tablets.

Hi I work as a nurse on the elective orthopaedic ward. As long as your lung function is not due to infection you will be fine. Some surgeons suggest stopping MTX before surgery and for a few weeks after, so contact your surgeons secretary and check if this is the case. If the anaesthetist has concerns re lung function they will probably suggest double g it under spinal, around 98% are done this way. Don't worry as they offer you sedation so you won't be aware of what's going on. Good luck.

Thank you som much I was panicking. I desperately need the operation and was afraid it would be put off. I've come off methotrexate now. I might try and get a blood test in before surgery. Thank you again 😊

I'd just like to add that having spinal anaesthesia is FAR better than the general kind.
