Hi Mary welcome to the group. Sorry you are in pain. Mtx can sometimes take a few months to get going. It's very frustrating and you need a lot of patience. Sometimes the mtx can make you feel sick. It did me. I have mtx injection every week and no sickness. Hope you feel better soon 😀

Hello Mary

I hope that the xray comes through soon.

Hi Mary and welcome. It's a horrible place to be when just beginning the process of diagnosis and treatment. A week ( unfortunately) isn't long to wait in terms of x ray- I know my MRI and x rays were extremely quick, and it was nearly 2 weeks I waited.

I hope you get the apt soon and things can get moving for you.

Best of luck on your journey.

Marie

Hi Mary, and welcome to this forum. I hope you will find it helpful. I hope you have some painkillers to take, while you wait for your X-ray, did they say you would be seen in a week, if you are worried, have you got a rheumatology helpline you can call for advice. Wishing you all the best. Hugs X

That's good Mary it allows more time, good you have your X-ray on Friday, once the radiologist has looked at it, they will be able to give you more information about moving forward. All the best G X

Don't really understand why the doc said you needed to stop mtx until new x-rays taken ? What was the explanation for this?

Something to do with the tablets was all she said

Really not good enough😡No reason to be treated like this, without respect. It is your body and it is you who need to know everything relevant to your condition.Ask, ask and ask until you understand, the doctor is there to help you understand not leave you wondering and taking additional stress!

Perhaps he's not sure he has made the right diagnosis? Unfortunately the X- ray is not the best depedable way make sure in the beginning. More explanations definitely needed from the doctor.

Hi Mary

It's very tricky to begin with but does get better as you go along. Double check about stopping the Methotrexate and perhaps chase the X-ray ? You are not a nuisance - just looking after yourself and being sensible. Best of luck

Wouldn't it be nice if GP/Rheumy & Xray dept could get together? Have you telephoned the X-ray department Mary?

....if you have the form requesting it - at most hospitals you can just walk in & get it done.

Did the doctor explain why you should stop taking the Mtx? Maybe you could phone your GP practice & see if they can hurry things along?

If you have a rheumatology nurse she will be able to sortthings for you.

Do hope things get moving soon.

Hi Mary. Welcome to the club you never wanted to join. The workings of our NHS are very hard to understand and I can only suggest you start contacting your GP, Rheumy dept and/or xray dept and start gently pushing for information and maybe pain meds. You need to know what's going on and as my daughter days "the shy bairn gets nowt". Big hugs

Hi Mary, I started MTX in January taking 20mg on a Sunday and I take folic acid and multivitamins every day. Im having bloods done every week and they've been absolutely fine. I'm one of the lucky ones so far as I've not had any SIDE effects so hoping this continues. I'm back at specialist at beginning of march to see next step, I'm hoping to reduce amount of MTX. Fingers crossed for you
