Been up all night very nervous as I go for my first MTX injection today... I reacted horrendously on the tablets so the thought of even going anywhere near MTX in any form is terrifying... Anyone switched from tablets to injection and can (maybe) ease my mind slightly?
Up all night! : Been up all night very nervous as I go... - NRAS
Up all night!
Darling i am not on them now,but i have been on previously and they are ok and just remember it is just a small prick!!!!!!! xxxxxxx
Nothing to worry about as long as you drink plenty off water before and after mtx day it takes the edge off things, I take mines at night before I go to bed so I sleep off the side effects if any
When I was working I took it on a Friday night so if there was any side effects I had the weekend to get it out my system, and as Sylvi has said the injection is nothing good luck
I too was scared of injecting mtx that I continued with the pills for a few more weeks. When I look back now, I think about how much time I wasted fearing injecting mtx....you too will wonder why the fear.
Please know that I am here in the virtual world holding your hand. You will survive your fear and then you too can help others switch to injecting mtx
I had horrible side effects (nausea, dizziness. Headache, a feeling of being hungover and drunk at the same time) with tablets but 3 weeks in to injections - side effects all gone and I'm getting glimpses that it is starting to kick in.
It had made a world of difference and doing the injections i have found easy.
Hope you get on well too.
Much better on the injections than tablets x
Hi Aimee, wishing you lots of luck.
It's a small needle. Also, they suggested I inject into my thighs but I preferred my stomach because it's easier to pinch my stomach fat. Seriously though, I find it much more comfortable in my stomach. Top tip; pinch an inch, needle in quickly, inject slowly and hold for a few seconds after you think it's finished.
I work week days only, so I inject right before bed on a Friday and sleep off any side effects (not that I get any). I'm always a bit more tired the following day but I'm often tired after a busy week, so it's not terrible.
I was much better on injections vs tablets. I've been on them for years.
I didn't tolerate MTX tablets at all, but I have now been on MTX injections since last September and I find them so much better. I can't inject into my legs as I have had to have my lymph nodes removed in the groins ( due to vulva cancer ) so I need to inject into my tummy every week, but I am fine. Not so much fatigue as the tablets. I hope you get on ok, I am sure you will. X
I was horrendous ill on the tablets. Switched to injections and was still ill. They have decided to rechallenge the injections and I am very sick having started again HOWEVER I am very unusual. My GP says everyone else who has switched to injections have got rid off all the side effects so it's well worth trying. It's very unpredictable how people react though even if you react it will be nowhere near the level of side effects of the tablets. Sometimes if it's by injection you can have a smaller dose because it goes straight in to the blood steam so really worth trying.
I was violently sick on MTX so they changed me to injections. They were in my tummy and seemed okay for a while, unfortunately I began vomiting with this also so had to be taken off that. I continue with hydroxychloroquine but have simponi injections every month (tried a different one but it wasn't as successful!) Recently had the injection increased to 100mg per month. The only difference I have noticed is that my hair is falling out in handfuls again!
Feeling a little jaded at the minute. Tired of being awake at night with pain (regardless of sleeping tablets) and the constant pain during the day. Recently in my shins!!!
I work full time as a primary school teacher and life is truly a challenge.
Just keep swimming kidda!! x
You will find the injections a lot easier than tablets,I had no side effects, and the injection is very simple, just remember to ask for a purple sharps bin to place the used needles in,you can get one from your pharmacy or your GP will add one to your prescription and then return it to your pharmacy when full.
All the best with the injections, you will be fine.
