I sugest you phone your doctor, or go to the ER. Seeing floaters are never a good thing and the sooner you have them delt with the better.

Please take care

I saw an ophthalmologist last week as having lots of eye problems since starting Humira....no idea if there is a connection. The ophthalmologist cheerfully told me that my eyes are healthy but experiencing natural aging processes!

So from age 50 apparently we can expect various types of floaters, totally harmless, and other degenerative processes. Normally one's brain gets used to the floaters and one stops noticing them. Unfortunately I'm also having visual disturbances, but they think these are migraine related. I have 2 different types of floaters..the newest ones are crystalline...what fun!

'Floaters are small pieces of debris that float in the eye's vitreous humour. Vitreous humour is a clear, jelly-like substance that fills the space in the middle of the eyeball. The debris casts shadows on to the retina (the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye).'

Actually in the states at least, that seems to be the preferred / first answer to most "why am I" questions... You are getting older. ha ha

I've a few floaters too (I'm on methotrexate) for a few years now. I've found I rarely notice them anymore, my eye has just gotten used to them and compensates or turns a blind eye (sorry bad pun!) to them.

Apparently there's nothing that can be done. But if you're getting flashing lights then immediately go see an optician because that is the sign of a detaching retina!

Best of luck, Maeve
