Start my Benepeni tomorrow and am concerned that as I get UTI's on a regular basis, when I get a UTI I have to stop my Methotexrate until clear, has anyone else had this experience with the Benepeni if so how did you get on?

Many Thanks

Sorry it should read Benepali injection

I wonder whether it is the MTX that is contributing/making you susceptible to UTI's. Maybe once the Benepali has kicked in (can take up to 12 weeks) you may be able to reduce the MTX slightly. As you already are aware of your symptoms you should be able to act before it progresses too far. As with all the RD meds everybody reacts differently. Farm

The balance between coping with infections and staying on meds is a difficult one that you have to take a case at a time, im afraid uti, ear infections and mouth infections have been my constant companions. It gives you difficult decisions.

Blessings.

Have you tried upping your water intake to get your UTi's under control.

I know that sounds very simplistic but sometimes the simple things do work. The notion being that you pee more regularly and thus your body flushes out the bugs.

I was getting terrible mouth ulcers with MTX but thanks to this site + my Pharmacist saline did the trick.

Hi, thanks for the advice, will try that, mouth ulcers with MTX ,yes I have had that but now take folic acid every day apart from MTX injection day,and it works at present.

Glad to hear the folic acid did the trick.

I was taking folic acid 6 days a week but that did not work. However it did solve the nausea issue.
