My GP rang 8pm tonight to say he'd heard from Rheumy Consultant who said it didn't matter if l take hydroxychloroquine or not. l am stopping it to see if l can get myself back to some sort of normality. Happy Christmas to you all try to stay positive
Hydroxychloroquine: My GP rang 8pm tonight to say he'd... - NRAS
Hydroxychloroquine
Dear Fran,
My new Rheumy just took me off Hydroxychloquine, and that was before I told her how horrible it was making me feel, It would be great to be off all drugs. Enjoy a pain free Christmas and lets hope for better things in the new year, Best Regards, Joan,
I keep praying for that too - A basically drug free life. I hope we will all get there, but probably not as soon as we would wish....
Good luck , I have to say I could not tolerate methotrexate or sulsufrazine (think that's how you spell it , it ps been 5 years since I attempted my horse pills as I called them because of the size ) but hydrochoquinn has been my life line as I also have sjorgrens and fibromyalgia and arthritis is definitely showing it's ugly head , it's in my knees and my shoulders and spine , I have to say I was taken off hydrochoquinn for a year and couldn't get off the sofa for that time , by my old rummie I was put back on one 200 mg tablet for the last 3 years which made my life better but nothing great and I feel that if I had been put on the higher daily dose my conditions would not have got as bad as they have , my fatigue is not as bad now I am on 400 mg daily and I am now able to function better but have to use a wheelchair while I am out ,
Wishing you a pain free Christmas and new year
Good luck and gentle hugs
Chris 🎅😊🎄⛄️🤶🏻
Chris my GP told me last night that everyone is different. I can tolerate 20mgs of MTX. Couldn't take sulfazeline either. Take naproxen twice a day. GP has put me on amitriptyline 10mg at night to ease the old muscles and pain. See Rheumy end of January see what he says this time
Happy Christmas and happy new year plus painfree as much as possible
May be worth trying 200mg hydroxy before giving up on it (perhaps after a few days off). I cannot get on with 400mg but the 200mg is enough for me with my Abatacept to make a difference. Farm
If you don't need to take it why ever didn't your Rheumy just tell you himself?
I know rheumies are thin on the ground, but surely letting any patient swallow drugs they don't need can't be ethical?
I think the caring NHS we all remember has all but disappeared......I am very lucky with my present Rheumy...........but it looks like he is the exception rather than the rule? Thank goodness your GP told you!
