I just had my hand scanned by ultrasound. I was there 50 minutes before my appointment, but was seen almost immediately. Consultant says that there was nothing obvious, but will look again when he prints them off.
Just have to wait for Rheummy appointment on 3 November.

Good luck then ! My hand scan was awful first time round, even I could see the inflammation. Got to have another one soon but the mtx seems to be doing its work so fingers crossed!
after waiting 4 months for this simple hand scan my wife who is now in a wheelchair to get round the hospital showed obvious infections in her synovial fluid .we are hoping some relief can be given ,but interdepartmental communication seems to take too long,
I have my hands scanned on a regular basis. You can see the inflammation yourself on the screen. They grade it from 1 through to 3 - that being the worst. I know myself when it's going to show up badly simply by the way i feel. Good luck for the 3rd November.
Hope you don't have any inflammation next time round Jacqui. In my twenty years of RA I have never been offered a joint scan. When asked if I could have one for my knee which has a lot of soft tissue issues and damage behind it the consultant said they don't do scans unless you are having an operation. She yelled at me when I asked why?!! Me thinks she is trying to save on their budget. The only thing I have ever had was an initial all over scan but that was on BUPA and an NHS dexa scan for osteoporosis.
i went for mri scan earlier this year on my hand all the tendons were knotted up they offered me op but surgeon said its not one hundred per cent if it works or not so didnt bother at least at the moment i can use hand they gave me steroid injection into hand that was really good anyone on here had op on hands be interested to know outcome xx
