Hi. I'm due my second transfusion next Monday so too early for me to comment on progress. There are some here that feel good about it so hopefully they reply.

I was fearful but it was absolutely fine. I was given a antihistamine and paracetamol tablet followed by a bag of steroids. Then waited for half a hour before the Rituximab. My blood pressure and temperature was taken at half hourly intervals. It is given slowly gradually increasing the amount going in. I went a bit hot so I was given more antihistamines then waited half an hour when the Rituximab was restarted. I was there just over 6 hours. I was in good hands and had nothing to worry about. No after effects and I went out for dinner that night. Apart from a couple of 'hot flushes ' during the first week I carried on with life. Take lots of munchies as nurse says it's good to munch away and reading matter. You will need to give a wee sample before you start the infusions. I wasn't uncomfortable at all and walked about with the infusion stand as it's a long sit. Going to the toilet was a laugh but manageable. Good luck and don't worry. Silly as it might sound I'm looking forward to the second on Monday as I feel positive that it will eventually make life better. Jackie

Hi Jackie, I've been on Rituxan for about two years. It has helped me a lot with the swelling in my hands and ankles. The first dose was a bit strange. I sort of felt like I was chocking but it went away in about 1/2 hour. I do take pre-medications before each dose. This has helped with the side effects a lot. I have felt much better with this drug then all the others. And i have to admit I have been on quite a few trying to get my RA under control. Best of luck.

Thanks. I've been on lots too but this last year has been bad so I'm putting my faith into this drug. Hope you continue to feel better.
