Started getting myself of Tibalone or Livial the common name

I have taken it for years and stayed on it because I felt great when I was on the menopause. I now feel I should come of it I did read online to cut it down to every other day and them every 2 days. How do I know how long to go in between reducing any help please? X

Since this is a prescription drug I'd really ask your GP about the best way to taper down and get off them. It's also useful for them to know that you're trying come off them and have this in your notes just in case there are any complications.

Since most docs seem to want people to come off HRT things after 5 years or so I'd have thought the GP would be pleased to help, and may have some sensible suggestions.

You say 5 years I have been on it for 26 years repeats done no questions asked beyond me. I blame myself as well for not asking the right questions :( x

!!

Although My mum was on HRT for over 30 years and no harm done, so I guess there's a lot of variability.

Hope your gp will give you information about coming off it sensibly. I was on it for about 8 years, and didn't really have any problems when I stopped. Nothing like tramadol anyway!!!

Nice to hear from you, hope you're keeping well. Mavis xx

Definitely ask your GP, and discuss it with them. However, I usually find that GPs suggest much quicker withdrawals off many meds than really works well in practice, so I would always use the GP guidelines for withdrawal as the fastest that you should do it, but in fact consider tapering down much slower. The reason for a slow taper (off any med you have been on for a while) is that it gives your body a much better chance to get used to the lowered dose and therefore a much better chance of minimising any withdrawal symptoms.
