My frequent blood tests keep showing a very low white count, at first the Consultant suspected
the "Simponi "injections could be responsible (for rheumatoid arthritis) these were stopped 8mths ago, but still no change in blood count, a month ago I had a "bone marrow biopsy". I saw
the consultant yesterday for the results, he said the diagnosis is "benign leukaemia" in order to
increase the white count I will need twice weekly injections of "NIVESTIM" 0.5ml. for 3 weeks, I
did the first injection last night, after approx. 4hrs the pain in my legs was bad which lasted for approx. 3/4hr. Any experience or thoughts that may help. Thanks.

Whilst having chemotherapy for breast cancer, I had to have 7 days of Filgastrim injections. Filgastrim is one of the components of nivestim. I had dreadful pain across my hips and up my spine and had to take Ibuprofen and paracetamol to keep it bearable. This pain is caused by your body 'making' white blood cells. You feel it in the bones, usually hips, I had it for all 7 days, day and night. So your leg pain is probably something like that.
I wasn't warned either, not until rushed into hospital with neutropenic sepsis due to chemo, I was having the injections at the time, and the nurse explained it to me.
