Well I have been to the dentist and it was very quick. He showed me the letter the hospital returned,. Then went on to explain the whys and wherefores. I have a date for extraction and some anti-biotic to take two-three days before. Th only thing is I am going to have gaps in my top plate as he won't do a casting of my mouth till after they are out?

Well that's it not much really.

Hope everyone is ok , sending hugs to all.

Chris

Hello

Well that seems sorted. Are they sedating you or just freezing the problem teeth to extract

They usually just inject each tooth, don't think they do sedation. Wasn't told to bring someone with me. So I will be driving myself there and back . XXXX

Oh thanks for letting us know Chris. That sounds reassuring doesn't it. You will just have to stay at home until you get the new plate if you feel self conscious. I hate extractions, but it's quick and over and done with, and a couple less for you to worry about in the future. Good luck with the appointment. Angela x

I had to have 2 teeth out Chris and they did the same for me. Some antibiotics for a few days before. I had a gap too for 2 months but I agreed with dentist to let the shrinkage happen before having 2 new teeth attached to a plate as otherwise if you get it done straightaway you have to have it adjusted. I know how it feels but I just told people at work and family that there would be a gap and I felt less embarrassed that way I just used a scarf when I went out to hide it a bit. Best of luck.

I had three teeth out about six months ago, with me they sedated me and all was done without knowing what was going on.

When young I was badly treated and now, even when they know I am getting older they prefer to bang me out as I sadly can be a problem patient now as I cannot trust the dentist I still need my normal dentist who checks my teeth and when they find anything they just refer me to hospital. So generally it takes six month to get the work done, immediate after my second checkup

I'm siting with two gaps in my bottom front teeth (have a partial plate right now, so know what it feels like. I've had the teeth break off, and root fillings done, in preparation for grinding them off to the gumline and a new plate made. Its been nearly two months of waiting like this, as I'm on the NHS dental list, but it will be worth it in the end. I think your dentist is right in leaving you with a gap. The first time I had dentures made before the teeth came out, they really weren't a good fit at all, and even relining didn't really help a lot but just made the plate very thick. Hang in there, and if you pretend there is nothing wrong with your mouth, most folk won't notice anyway. Its amazing how much your lips actually cover.
