Can anyone tell me about centres of excellence in rheumatology in London? For example, is UCL any good?
rheumatoid arthritis: Can anyone tell me about centres... - NRAS
rheumatoid arthritis
Might be a good idea to contact NRAS, and ask their advice. M x
There is an excellent Rheumtology Dep University College Hospital,London. I was first disgnosed there by a Professor, who then referred me to a Consultant who specialised in the type of RA that I have.
Unfortunately I have now moved way from London, but I still hear good reports from UCH.
Good Luck where ever you attend.

EULAR (European league against Rheumatism or something like that) actually lists centres of excellence, though beware that what you might mean by excellence isn't necessarily what they mean. Research hospitals can be good in some ways (ahead of the game in some senses, depending on what they are researching), but that doesn't necessarily reflect on ordinary patient care if a large amount of staff and resources are going into research. I personally would go for a teaching hospital with a relatively large rheumatology department, (or a specialist spondyloarthritis clinic, as that is what I have), rather than a research based hospital.
