Could severe painful cramping of the hands be caused by steroid tablets being taken for polymyalgia rheumatica?

Hello jaydy, I am not too sure about the hand cramping cause, I have always put mine down to badly deformed hands due to r/a If it was because of steroids, why just the hands, and not cramping of feet and legs? Are your hands straight? and how much steroids are you on, My opinion is they are great for reducing the inflammation, but best to keep doses as low and even come off these if another option is available. hope this helps. bluetit33

When my shoulders and upper body was affected, I found that the cramp in the hands was due to the abnormal posture I adopted. Hope that helps.
