This is taking ages and I'm not feeling patient

Well hi all. As some will recall I fractured my foot 14 days back now. It's not appearing to get much better. I know the medication I take is not conducive to swift bone healing but I never expected it to look like this a fortnight later. Sigh

Oooch. Feel for you. When I ruptured my achilles tendon I felt for sure that gangrene has set in for a couple of days before the bruising started going the funny yellowy brown colour it goes when it's starting to go. I kept my toes covered up as I hated it so much & was thankful I couldn't see the rest of my leg! At least you've been able to cheer up your toenails lol. Mine took a month or so before they looked a somewhat normal colour. Maybe try arnica gel to help bring out the bruising. I use it regularly with all the bruises I get nowadays & find it does help a little, they certainly don't hang around as long as they used to.

Hope the sun's shining where you are today & it lifts your spirits a bit.

I hope you are dressing in colours to co ordinate with the bruises! When I was an orthopaedic nurse we used to encourage our patients to eat a high protein diet as this helps with bone formation, so steaks and yummy bacon sandwiches would be my choice! Get well soon. Clemmie

Arnica is fan stuff I love it.

It's reassuring that others have experienced such bruising

Bacon butty sat out in the sun this morning mmmmm good plan:)

Hiya if you look at patient.co.uk there is a lot on there about fractures and broken foot bones. I hope Clemmie agrees that it's different for everyone but in general 6 to 12 weeks. I had loads of bruising with mine and it took about three months before I could put weight in it, but each case and the bones in your feet are all different x

You might be lucky of course!! What are you doing on stage?

Blimey - those are some toenails! Seem to have their own light source! Anyway, feet just take ages, or my foot took ages to recover from surgery. I think I'd just got to the point of despair when ..... bingo! Suddenly there were definite signs of recovery, then more improvement day by day. It's kind of an investment, if you can grin & bear it now, the healing will most likely be very sound.
