I was diagnosed with early RA and possibly fibromyalgia a few months ago and was doing well (on HCQ).
Recently though I’ve been having hand pain at night again, then when resting in the day have stiff wrists, shoulders and stiff ankles. Does this sound like an RA flare? Swelling on outside of ankles and hands, though not red & warm. A lot on at work so perhaps that had brought it on, just wondering what this is.

Some people get all the symptoms all together I don’t. I don’t suffer with pain so much thankfully( I think I have a high threshold) and it annoys me when I’m asked by Rheumy etc how much pain I’m in. For me stiffness and range of mobility my body is slow. I drop things as my hands don’t react quickly enough. I also can get swelling with fatigue. We are all different.
I get lots of swelling but no redness sometimes knuckles go warm but usually a flare

Hi Sunnyseas, it’s all part of it frustratingly for some of us. Although on biologics my left hand pain has been consistently there for over a year: stiff, sore and tender. Certain things exasperated, such as juicing my carrots 😬 so I have to relax it. This week I purchased a hand brace from Amazon which has helped.
I also take Celadrin to ease the pain and carry out daily hand exercises.

Sounds like a bit of a flare...contact your rheumy team and take photos of the swelling in case it has disappeared by the time you see someone!
Not sure if this is helpful, but i ALWAYS have slightly swollen hands and right ankle... but my knees are only ever stiff when I'm away to flare - apparently because the inflammation is fighting against the meds 🤷🏻♀️
(I've had R.A for 26 years now and currently take Simponi, Celebrex and 5mg of Prednisolone)
When my knee's stiff it's pretty horrible though, I've nearly caught my foot and fallen sooo many times 😫
