any one got advice on protection to weak and pain full hands

My rheumy referred me to the Occupational Therapy department where they game me hand splints. One lot was made to fit my hands when resting, to give support, and they are made with your hands in a relaxed position. The others were to wear while working. Mine had a metal bar inside which can be removed if too uncomfortable. This link has a photo of a resting splint:

Yes I've had splints made too and recently got referred back to the hand OT for advice on strengthening my hands. She gave me some therapeutic putty to squeeze and pinch a few times a day. Over time this should help but I'll wait and see.

There are exercises you can do to help your hands. You can also get splints from places like Boots whilst you wait to see the OT. I was told to wear mine at night to prevent bending in awkward positions whilst asleep.

Depends on what is causing the pain. It is trial and error. Sometimes I use splints either the resting OT made or the ones with metal bars and other times I find that compression gloves help - you can also get those from OT but the ones I like at the moment are dark grey from A**zon (sold by Great Ideas). Although at £11.95 a pair they are not cheap, they wash reasonably well and stay looking a bit tidier for longer than the skin coloured ones from OT and they don't always like giving 2 pairs. S

Got all the same splints like Poems mentioned .. The ones with the removable metal bar/rod I find the best. I find I get that happy medium between inactivity and too much activity if I give them just enough movement. I also found a hand cream which seems to soothe them a lot and it is likely the massaging movement which helps but the handcream is Molton Brown's Thai Vert. A cyber-friend of mine has been making some creams herself for years, one of which she swears have made her Baker Cyst vanish! Naturally I am VERY interested being plagued with a BC for years now, and she has promised to send me some which is a comfrey based cream. Comfrey is the only plant and the rest is the emolient etc. If this has natural harmless properties in a handcream or lotion I hope it might have good effect and doesn't interfere with medications. I will check of course all her ingredients. She assures me it is the fact she uses more of the natural ingredient in her creams etc than manufacturers, etc that they work well. She will send me a sample after her hols soon but I will of course check it with the RA nurse who keeps a resource file on alternative medicines.
