what is the normal persons crp number

Generally anything below 10mg/L is considered normal. Although labs can differ but this is what mine is based on. The higher the figure the more likelihood it's due to inflammation. If this is the first blood test you've had & it's above that they may want to make further investigations.

thanks for that mine is 115 and the dr. wanted me to go to hospital but i refused and got antibiotics as i also suffer with diverticulitus which is flared up at the moment so wondered if this contributes to my crp

Is he looking specifically for RA? By that I mean are you presenting symptoms of swelling & painful joints, fatigue? Was it the Rheumatology Department he wanted you to attend at hospital?

i had terrible painful tummy thought it was my divaticulitus but dr thought i had perritinitus the pain has almost gone now with antibiotics but i feel very sick and tired its been like this for4 days hopefully soon be back to normal

If it doesn't clear at least by the end of your course a trip back to your GP would be my thoughts. Could be that that antibiotics are making you feel sick & the tiredness could be because of the pain in your tum. That'll probably make you ache as well because you'll be holding your core muscles abnormally. He'll put you straight if it doesn't clear. It's your choice whether to go to hospital or not but maybe he wants further investigation to rule out your Diverticulitis. I do hope you feel better soon.

Hi, Your CRP can rise with both inflammation or infection. I was in hospital a few years ago when mine was over 200, they thought I had an infection but it was all down to the RA being out of control. When you get the inflammation or infection under control it will go back down.

thankyou MarshaM, have read the link ,find it scary so will go back to the dr. when i have finished my coarse of antibiotics at the moment i still dont feel well but that could be the antibiotics as they are strong ones im elergic to penicillan
