Third week of salopryzan unable to walk my wife has to assist me with going to the bathroom. Is it worth asking for a doctors home visit?

Why are you unable to walk? Is it a side effect of the salazopyrin? I think you definitely need to phone the doctor and let them know whats going on whatever the reason.

So sorry to hear this. You clearly need more support and help from doctor. Not being able to walk is horrible. Often if you phone surgery dr will ring you back to help decide if you need a visit

This was my first RA med and took two months to kick in properly and I was in a bad place too unable to walk until it did. (Nothing to do with side effects of it btw for me. Is your immobility due to siezed and swollen knees/ankles/hips as mine was) Can you ask your consultant for a general hydrocortisone injection to tide you over till the med starts to work. This med served me well many years ago for ten years, and got me walking again. Even some serious fell walking. Hope this gives you faith and hope you soon feel better.

Our GP will do steroid injs but they'll probably refer to hospital first

No chance at ours. You would be told .. "That's Rheumatology territory!"

Not sure what your GP can do. He/she would probably just ask your consultant for advice. You really need to get on to your support nurse, if you have one, or your consultant. They should be able to advise. Do hope you get the help, support, reassurance, you need, very soon. xx

Hi , thinking you mean it's difficult to walk because of your RA? I have been there on many occasions my friend. I have very very often ended up going into hospital in a wheelchair due to the extreme pain. If you have just started treatment maybe it will take a bit longer to get into your system

. When it happens to me I get generally seen immediately and depending on my blood tests and swelling they give me a steroid shot in the bum to get the symptoms down and reduce the pain and swelling. Also i have been taken into hospital and given steroid infusions which work like magic. This kicks in after two or three days and really helps.

If you don't think it's your RA then it sounds like an emergency situation and do please call the docs. Whatever way you should call the Rheumy and get help. I hope you get sorted very quickly.

Can I also recommend you get a home visit from an occupational therapist who can help with any aids for your home. You can get a reference through your rheumy nurse.
