Well I bet you are glad to be getting it done, u must be sore. I haven hads one done but when family members have they were told that thwy would be made to get up and walk very quickly, ansd to walk through the pain I don't know if your doctors and physios would do the sAme advice.. But going through knees is painful so I think you must already be brave.

Good luck, thinkimg of you.

Thank you will post when it is over.

They get patients up and mobilised and physioed almost straight away at my hospital, patients are discharged as soon as 3-5 days later x

Work with orthopaedic patients ..generally knees are very painful in rehab but most people find immediate relief from the awful grinding pain they have had with the hip . Wound pain initially but you get up really quickly and most do very well.good luck and I will be thinking of you

My symptoms are not pain in hip, but severe back pain, cannot stand for more than 5 mins. not the grinding as in the knees.

Ortho examined me and said hip, straight away. When he saw x ray said" doesn't come much worse than that". Arranged for op urgently. On xray no gap at all between ball and socket. The ball part clearly rough, "dog chewed" is how it looks.

Richard Bransons Mum had hip replaced and asked surgeon to keep it for her.Uses it as a door knocker.

Thanks for good wishes will post after op.

Sorry ..I shouldve been more clear.most people have referred pain from hip.often in your "lisk"or back .sometimes it radiates down leg.i am sure you will do well with such a positive attitude!not sure about the new door stop though lol.

Good luck

THR did help my backpain. Well in fact it went completely. As my other hip is now needing a replacement my back does cause me problems if I stand for more than 10 mins. So it must have been linked in my case.
