I just stumbled across this recording of the radio 4 programme Inside Health -re drug trials for RA

I also pasted it on as a comment for the NRAS poll regarding placebos and clinical trials etc. We have to put so much faith in clinicians and pharmacutical companies regarding the powerful drugs we take so this programme did really concern me. It would be interesting to know what others think.
And another recording from the same chap five years ago on RA. This programme would come in useful for people wanting to explain RA abd our drugs to friends and family I feel.
None of this surprises me. The pharmacutical companies are primarily motivated by profit and as I understand it the profits are potentially huge in that field. It's a vicious circle because their sheer wealth makes finding clever ways around potential obstacles such as ethical considerations all too easy. Yeah we need to have some trust in doctors & drugs but need to temper that trust with healthy scepticism I feel. It's an ongoing challenge to get the balance right though. x
