Gingerbread men...

I have had a lovely day with my son today. He has Thursdays off from pre-school. I decided to catch up with the baking. After I had baked some buns ready for the freezer we decided to make the dough for the gingerbread men.

It seemed like a good idea to keep my boy happy and busy but when I had to knead the dough together I realised it isn't going to be good on my hands - ouch... When I was rolling out the dough with the rolling pin it kept pressing on my painful knuckle joint on the inside of my right hand. It was a painful reminder. I never tell my boy about my pain and I didn't let it spoil our fun but I was disappointed that I couldn't even escape from it while baking.

Gingerbread men tasted great with a cup of tea.

My boy loves it. He has his own little chefs hat and apron -bless him. He looks very cute. Everywhere looked abit floury when we had done but they were worth it. x

Think you might need to put another kitchen gadget on the christmas present ideas list - I'm sure you can get some kind of dough hook machine that would do things like knead gingerbread.

Hi, I did think the same earthwitch - there must be something out there to help people like us to continue baking. Needless to say my hands are terrible today and legs are very stiff from the standing yesterday - but it was worth it.

I do feel scouser that I am unlucky for this to come when my boy is young. I haven't been well since I gave birth to him but now we know why - so I am armed with reason and knowledge and going to cope the best I can. x

Hello, your baking day sounds like great fun, sorry to hear that you're suffering today but I admire you for hiding the pain from your young son and still allowing yourself to do fun things with him. I love Gingerbread men.. Bet they tasted great! Best wishes Maddie xx

Hi Maddie, thank you. I feel really strongly that I don't want this ra to interfere with my sons life to the best of my ability. I feel like I have and still miss out with certain things like dressing him in the mornings but I will try and make up my time like reading, singing - actual things I can do, my brain still works lol - he loves it and doing very well with his a-z because of it.

I think it is too much for a 4 year old to worry about - he probably doesn't quite understand and he would be concerned. I want him to have a normal-ish childhood with the fun too x x
