I was recently diagnosed with endometrium hyperplasia and fibroids (which are too small to do anything about right now) I am 32 and have suffered great pain every time I am on period.
I am told my options for treatment are hormonal therapy (which is more of a trial and error thing as they do not know how my body will respond)
Scrapping off the wall (which will eventually grow back) or a hysterectomy.
This is all very new to me and I welcome any bit of advice, encouragement and experience shared.
Hi Hidden , I am so sorry about the pain you have to endure. I also have a very severe endometriosis (and fibroid), and I am told I have a frozen pelvis, meaning all my pelvic organs are glued together.
I am currently taking Fish oil with Evening Primrose oil because it helps to supply B vitamins and as a result can help to balance your hormones. You can also ask your Doctor for Progesterone cream, which you can apply topically i.e. your inner arm or inner thighs. This can help to increase progesterone in your body.
I know hormonal therapy is trial and error and a bit scary, but just monitor your body and watch out for any changes or anything your body is telling you. Make sure you are very vocal to your doctors about everything, and don't let anyone force you to take any treatment you are not comfortable with.
Also, from experience, I know it sounds a bit simplistic, but your diet matters a great deal. I aim to eat a lot of kale, celery, colourful vegetables a lot more than I used to, and I know they are helping me. I am slowly reducing my gluten intake, I hardly take any sugar, coffee or alcohol. Pain during period is reducing and my general quality of life is better when I am intentional about what I eat.
Stay strong and please remember you are not alone. We are in this together.
Thank you so much for the encouragement. I have also had to change my diet..... Because I developed gastritis as a result of taking anti inflammatory drugs for years. The change in diet really helps.
I am going to see the doctor on Thursday (my hormonal tests results are in) and it is helpful to have an idea of how the hormonal therapy has worked for you.
I am really concerned about how the therapy may affect my ability to work.... I am a freelance consultant but I will cross the bridge when I get there
Hi Hidden I am glad to know your diet is helping. What a coincidence I also had gastritis as a result of years of anti-inflammatory drugs. I am not yet on any hormonal therapy but i am seeing the consultant in Oct. I will let you know what they say. Let me know how you get on.
