I've just quit smoking tonight...again

Hello everyone. This won't be my first quit, I've done it 3 times before. Once for 3 months, twice for 9 months and once for 18 months. I have to make this one forever! I absolutely hate hate hate being a smoker. I hate always being out of breath. I desperately want to get back into running again.....my personal experience tells me that I just have to make it through 3 horrible days and then it gets much easier for me. Well, wish me luck :-)

Welcome!

Every time you try you'll be one step closer to success.

Good luck with your quit. Post, read!

Mostly, relax and enjoy the ride :)

Well done for trying again, be happy you haven't had a cigarette, this is just what you wanted right? I also have taken up running, blooming hurts at first but there is some joy too for some reason. You can do this! Keep telling yourself 'this is what I want'. Worked for me😀

Kay, one of my favourite hobby horses is not wishing people luck because you've got to realise that luck simply doesn't enter into it.

Success is not a matter of chance; you're not at the mercy of external influences beyond your control, success is absolutely down to you. Grasp it, own it, it is yours for the taking. No-one can take it from you, only you can throw it away. So many people enter into a quit full of trepidation, not really believing they will succeed - we have all trodden that path, but a key part of success is to be in absolutely no doubt that you can do it.

And instead of smoking, you can practice maths :)

Kay... Mark Twain said quitting is easy, he has done it thousands of times......I don't think quitting is the thing but to stay quit is what we want...and it is said by all posters above...it is in your control...success is down to you depending how much you want to be smoke free....and surely if you decided to quit you want to be smoke free...You have been there and done it and know all the difficulties and triggers......So stay strong !!!!

Hello Kay,

My advice is start running now and continue through your quit. (not literally "now" obviously, just soon :)) The improvement you feel will be a big incentive to keep up the quit. It's great!

Ok thanks everyone! I've just bought myself some new Nikes so I'm off down the park for a couple of hours. The withdrawal is creeping in but it's a familiar process so I know what to expect :-)

Welcome Kay and huge congratulations on making the best decision of your life. I can't really add much more advice that has been given above especially from Hercu and AnEgg, Keep yourself busy for the next couple of weeks. Wishing you every success in this quit and look forward to reading your progress :)
