Hi All

Feeling a bit anxious about a party I am going to tonight, it's a long story but there are some people going that I was hoping never to see again. The people who are holding the party are my favourite people in the world so I really want to go, and I don't want to be beaten by the situation. But am anxious, awkward, don't know what to wear I have tried on lots of different things and I desperately want a fag! ! My tummy is bloated I don't know what to do with myself. I want to go and feel good and confident but I feel rubbish, want a fag!

You most certainly don't need a fag. Whatever you choose to wear I'm sure you'll look stunning don't spoil the effect by smelling like an ashtray. Enjoy yourself and be proud of yourself.

Paint a smile on your face, put on that dress -promise no one will be looking at a little bloating. Stay away from too much alcohol and NOPE. Every 'first' we have to do as a non smoker is daunting, but the next party it will be a little bit easier, oh, and have a lovely time x

Well, derrrr, you haven't seen me since I was four. It's normal to change a bit in 33 years etc etc...). But it was ok. I hope your night was/is, too

Wow! Thank you all The good news is (and i'll be needing a drum roll here) I went 2 nights of partying without a cigarette...! On the second night I was starting to forget why I had given up and was wanting one, but so glad in the morning that I hadn't!

Saturday was so hard when I posted, I think I am beginning to recognise the situations when I would normally have used smoking as a psychological crutch, as has been said many times it is such a strong addiction and the psychological element is the hardest to crack. That feeling that fags are your little friend who never leaves you through thick and thin.
