Yay me!

This week I'm going to think about what diet and exercise programme to follow. Something easy for a 48 yr old lady with newly acquired junk in her trunk. Any ideas?

Diet - I've lost 9 and a bit lb after quitting (3 weeks today) - veg, pasta, lean meat with the visible fat cut off..

Exercise, 10 minute warm up run, weight machines at 25kg 10 reps x 3 sets full body. 2000 meter row, 10 minute walk warm down. Mon weds Friday

Congrats on your 77 days! I remember mine really well, I called it 77 Sunset Strip :)

That was the point I really felt that the quit was for good and that time was passing really quickly. It seems that you are having the same feeling too :)

Diet wise I reduced my bread & potato intake and started eating quorn mince and chicken based main meals. It's amazing how tasty quorn mince can be with the right flavourings, my favorite at the moment is Chilli Con Quorny!

I've limited my sweet intake, but not eliminated it, as I would end up binging. I allow myself 4 squares of chocolate a day and you know what, I think I'll be able to eliminate it soon, if I want to.

I drink loads of water now, have stopped drinking fizzy pop and fruit juice and have greatly reduced my tea and coffee intake. I drink at least 2 litres of water per day and I feel better and my skin has improved no end.

As for excercise, I started swimming after nearly 40 years. I started off slowly but now swim just over 1.5 miles per visit, 3 times per week on alternate days - in total I swim 5 miles per week. On these days I eat a banana before and after.

My weight has gradually dropped by an average of 1 pound per week and I'm toning up nicely! Because the weight loss is gradual, I'm not finding it hard at all. It's like quitting, I think I'm just gradually, steadily, reprogramming my thinking and it's becoming my new lifestyle, my new norm.

Keep it going, you're doing great!

Thank you for the replies:) am going to have to address the diet and exercise as my weight increase is a bit drastic! Dan, I am unfit so will start more slowly, think any rowing activity would kill me! But am very impressed with your weight loss.

Captain, I found my coffee intake reduced on it's own when I stopped smoking but my poisons are strongly flavoured sweets. Swimming sounds a good idea, I'll look into swimming times at my local pool.

On a positive note had a dear friend of mine pop round for dinner yesterday. A lovely friend who smokes, had a few glasses of wine and wasn't even tempted.

Onwards and upwards, no more out wards! Lol. Will put a new pic up as my old one is skinny smokey me, and no longer representative ha ha!
