Hi Pedz

Welcome to week two...and congratulations on your quit so far. I am using Champix...whilst it didn't have any effects on the taste of cigarettes whilst I was still smoking, It has helped a lot since I stopped.

That's good going, Pedz. I have used champix - the first time it made the cigarettes taste a bit like straw, but on other occasions it hasn't made them taste any different. Are you on the 2nd week of your quit, or the 2nd week of champix?

Hi all, I am on day 4 and doing ok using e-cig. I only say doing ok as I have hideous cough at night that I didn't have before when I smoked and funny enough I know that a cigarette would stop the cough but am determined this time to stay with it. I have never joined any type of forum before either so I hope this is the winning combination. Any tips for getting cough to go quicker much appreciaetd.... :)

Hi ammers and welcome to the forum. I too have had a cough recently. Mine was a dry one and meant that my sleep got stuffed. I took covonia dry cough medecine which worked for me. What I would recommend doing is popping and speaking to your pharmacist :)

yes I have dry cough too and of course it is really bad at night....! but I will pop to pharmacist to see what they recommend. I do remember covonia being a good one. thank you

thank you Jenny... feeling optimistic this time just hope I can get on top of this cough.....reading the stories on the forum today has given me another push of confidence too....

Well done Ammers and a big welcome to the forum from me too. :) You won't regret joining- everyone is lovely and you'll get all the support, advice and companionship you could possibly need here. There are quite a few long-term Champix quitters who are forum regulars and I am sure they will share their experiences with you.

As for the cough- there are few of us who didn't experience something similar as it is a very common side-effect of quitting tobacco (look up 'quitter's flu' and you'll get loads of hits). It's due to a combination of your body ridding itself of all the toxins, your immune system rebooting and the little hairs in your throat and lungs that help to fight infections growing back. It's irritating but it does pass I promise and it's all part of the healing process.

I shall look forward to hearing how things are going for you. You're doing fantastically well! :D

Hi everyone sorry I never replied but have been feeling like crap nothing to do with champix or quitting just been floored by the man flu but perking up a bit now, in to 3rd week of champix and second week of quitting this the longest my brain has went without Nicotine in about 30+ years get the odd very faint urge but it passes as soon as I am aware of it, other than that no real problems with the champix fab dreams guys ;-) good job I don't talk in my sleep lol, oh and if I sit alone quietly it's like being slightly detached from the world ha ha but not necessarily and bad thing if you watch the news latley you can see the world is a great place to take time out from occasionally......

Hi Pedz, I'm also on champix and yes the dreams are awesome. I've been getting up to some crazy stuff when I close my eyes. Keep up the good quit

Lostie, did you take the champix with food? That helps the nausea. Also, the nurses said that it was mainly women who suffered ill effects from Champix. I had some vivid dreams too.

Hello, I,m a tad late , just wanted to give you a special warm welcome from me, great to have you with us

Getting over the tiredness I was feeling but have noticed cola no longer has any tase at all, have no nauseous feeling or anything, have mostly forgot about cigarettes my experience from previous quits use ing NRT's is that cities are always lurking somewhere in ur subconscious but with the Champix it's different. I have to say I am nota pill popper and deliberated for best part of a year before deciding to give its go but thus far I am really glad I did

Well done pedz, from one champix user to another. Unfortunately, my dreams were and still are quite doo doo, but waiting for them to turn a corner ;)

I too think the champix is doing wonders, but one of the wise supporters on here did point out that it was only an aid and it's more to do with you really wanting to be a ex smoker, true right?
