Apologies for posting so many times in one day but thirsty for info!!!! Ive had a brilliant Day 4 but as I am on patches and an inhaler (don't really use the inhaler tho).....does that make it cheating??? The patch is 16 hour and I've used the same cartridge in the inhaler for the past 3 days. Just felt like it was a bit too easy today.....does that mean its time to cut the patches down already or is it just a strange good day???? Had quite a few triggers today and quite bad ones but still nothing shifted my willpower in the slightest! I am extremely suspicious albeit very grateful for the respite!!!!!!
Day 5...almost: Apologies for posting so many... - No Smoking Day
Day 5...almost
Thanks Tea....honestly didn't think about that. Will speak to the nurse on friday
Hello, well day five how fantastic for you. I can only say I used the patch method, indeed i stuck more or less to the plan, and this is certainly not cheating, the Long term goal is to be nicotine free, so a couple of weeks here and there does not matter, that was over six months ago, after saying that I had a couple of other attempts rushed getting off the patch and failed.
For me I needed the time to adjust to doing other things with my time, and hands.
Your doing a great job, no need to rush. It's the long term goal we need, not the here and now.
Fantastic nearly a week, very well done. Just keep going
Dolores, it really is horses for courses. I used 16mg patches & 1.5 strength lozenges for the first month and then felt able to cease using the patches (mainly because they kept falling off anyway ;)). I gradually weaned myself off the lozenges over the course of the next few weeks but I would have been quite prepared to get back on the patches (and anything else it took) if I had found it too difficult.
It's as Tracey says- whatever feels right for you is the right way. The main thing is to not try to run before you can walk (and risk losing your quit).
You're doing mightily by the way
Thanks guys. Spoke to the pharmacist today who said the same thing. Also had my carbon monoxide levels checked and have gone from 24 mg to 1mg!!! Really chuffed. Got a massive problem tho.....patches are making me almost physically sick and I'm feeling pretty rotten. Does this go away or is it just what I have to put up with???
Hi Dolores, well done on day 5 I would speak to the cessation nurse again there are different brands of patches and maybe the ones you are on don't agree with you, I have to have specific patches or I get allergic reaction, that said feeling sick is a side effect or maybe the dose you are on is a bit too high if you smoked less than 15 cigs a day my nurse always recommended starting at the lower dose, keep up the good work there

Just phoned them there and they said I'm definetely not getting too much as I smoked 20-25 a day. If that's what I have to put up with for a while then so be it. Kinda good in a way as my cravings are zero as I feel so ill. Might get the next level down soon enough see how I go with that. Almost day 6 yipppeeee!!!
Well done Dolores
I really hope the nausea wears off very soon (nothing worse than feeling sick in my opinion). If not, definitely speak to the pharmacist again to see if you can try a different brand of patches.
