Yes - I used to smoke - and did so for 50 years.

But as of 10-30 this evening (just before 'Match of the Day' starts) it will be exactly 6 months since I last lit up.

I wish I was able to pass on a foolproof method for quitting - but I can't.

As many others on this forum have said - it's about coping one day at a time. Or in the early days - one minute at a time.

I'll be open about my quit. I still miss smoking. But then I would miss any activity that I'd engaged in 20 times a day for 50 years.

On the plus side - and it's a HUGE plus - I feel fitter than for many years. My chest no longer sounds like punctured bagpipes. I'm walking further and faster without difficulty. And it's great not having to worry about running out of tobacco and/or papers.

So - I shall carry on getting to know myself as an ex-smoker. It's like meeting a new person !

I'm not making an advance booking for the Penthouse until I know more about the accommodation. Is it single bedrooms - or is everybody in one vast dormitory ?

As for the penthouse, mine planned is a suite. The view is the sea.

I have a big terrasse that has a jaccuzi and step to go on the beach.

Oh Well Done Junius. That's such fantastic news! I'm really, really pleased for you and hope you are as proud as punch at what you have achieved. You'll like it in the 6 month house- there are several very good bars, a wonderful restaurant, comfy beds and very acceptable complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms. I shall shove along a bit- there's plenty of room.

As for the Penthouse- definitely no dormitory/bunk-house type accommodation. Everything is en suite and I understand you get your own private jacuzzi not to mention a fab sea/mountain view depending on what side of the building you happen to be on. I shall personally be cheering you home if all goes well for us both.

And as a Penthouse regular I feel entitled to answer your question-

the answer being this-Picture the most amazing luxurious suite that you have ever seen perhaps in a glossy brochure for a hotel in somewhere like Goa-now double the luxury and treble it and you are STILL not there,because it is what you want it to be :cool::cool: that is Penthouse non smoking magic ..

Just to add ...

You can decorate your Penthouse Suite in any way you like and hire staff to cater to your every desire :D:cool: Also, the parties are amazing!
