Some of you may remember me from when I was last on the forum about 6 months ago. I just thought I would pop back and update you on my progress.
It has now been over 9 months since my last cigarette and I genuinely feel as though I will never smoke again. I no longer have the feeling that I am missing out by not smoking. My girlfriend still smokes as do a lot of my friends but I have now got to the stage where their smoking does not affect my want or need to smoke at all. I enjoy telling people who haven't seen me for a while that I haven't smoked for over 9 months. My next task is to support my girlfriend when she stops smoking shortly.
In fact, I only think about smoking once every couple of weeks or so because I seem to have dreams where I smoked. As soon as I wake up and realise it was a dream I feel glad that it wasn't real and proud of how much I have achieved.
Thanks to everyone who supported me in the early days because I did find this forum very useful - particularly the NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) mentality. I look forward to posting on the 8th of July when I will be able to say that I have made it to 1 year smoke free. I am no expert on giving up smoking but if anyone would like any advice then please ask in this thread and I will do my best to help.
Speak to you soon

Good, confident post there, icba! (I can't, either, by the way......not with fags, anyway! :D) Very well done to you, and your experiences on your own journey will be so useful when you are helping your girlfriend. Don't forget to tell her about this place as well though! All the best to both of you!
