Welcome to the forum and many congratulations on your quit. This is a lovely, friendly, informative place and you'll find all the advice and support you need as well as having fun.
Loads of new quitters joining the board so looks like you'll have lots of peer support for your journey too.
Hi Martin, nice one for taking the plunge and going for it, there are some good people on here plus as skid said loads of new joiners and more coming up I reckon as no smoking day 12th March
This is my second day too so good to have your company.
I've tried quitting before but always bottled out. I can't think of anything good to say about smoking now. I've been doing it for years and got nothing to show for it apart from a nasty cough now and again.
I think I'd brainwashed myself into thinking that I couldn't quit and that it was easier to just continue smoking.
Well I've had enough, this worm has definitely turned. Just taking it one day at a time and not trying to look too far ahead. I know quitting's not always easy. I think it's the mind games that kick in just when you think you're doing fine that are the hardest to deal with.
Today feels fine and I'm still not panicking even though there's nothing in the house to smoke. I'm sure that feeling will come but this time I'm going to fight it and not use it as an opportunity to run out and buy some.
Hello Martin welcome to the forum where we are all in different stages of our quits but on the same journey there will be loads of good advice and listeners so post as often as you feel you want.....day and night in my case in the early stages....
Hello Marty, and welcome to the forum. Nice to meet you. Good luck with your quit, but should you need any help you'll find plenty of people here who have been there and understand.
Stay strong, not an easy ride but well worth it. bb x
Good luck Martin, I have recently joined here and am given so much support let us know how you get on with the inhalator I'm doing the patches but don't quite know what to do with my hands now lol!
Hi Martin, welcome to the madhouse! We're all a bit nuts but I promise no-one bites!
Congratulations on taking this massive decision to fight your way free from the slavery of smoking - we can all remember how terrifying it was even contemplating the idea of quitting so good on you. The first days are tough, so tough that you couldn't pay anyone here enough to go through them a second time, so do everything you can to hang in there and press on through them - we're all testament to the fact that it CAN be done and I promise you faithfully, hand on heart, it truly DOES get easier.
Make whatever use of us you want, some people find this place a wonderful distraction, others have found that spending time here makes them think more about smoking and therefore they crave more so make as much or as little use of this site and the wonderful people here as you feel is helpful for you. Have yourself a good pootle round the Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Tips threads to get some ideas for survival tactics and anytime you want to, post on here! Whether you need a brain to pick, a shoulder to cry on, a kick in the pants or just to have a damn good rant you just post - that's what we're here for!
Wishing you all the best Martin and willing you through these first days - grit your teeth, put your head down, and CHARGE!
Well kat is the worst!! Good luck to you and well done x
