Hi,

I gave up smoking 6 days ago, I'm on the patches and so far so good!! But today has been really hard, just wanted to know if anyone really struggled at the end of there first week? It may not help I'm stressed with uni work to be fair!

Thanks

Scarlett:p

Hello Scarlett and welcome!:) Very well done on reaching 6 days!

There will be times when your quit seems hard; quitting is a bumpy old journey. But similarly, there will be times when you can celebrate milestones! The thing is to learn as you go along and also remember that a craving only lasts for a few minutes.

Personally, I had a difficult day on day 4....so around about the same time as you. These days will come, but you have to "accept" them as part and parcel of your quit. The good thing is that they don't last and if you can get through the difficult days when they come (and they will ), then you will feel so proud of yourself, and rightly so! You can come on here and celebrate!

The thing is to find a way of getting through these days......I found that a box of Maltesers did the trick!:o:) A lot cheaper than fags, too!

Hello Scarlet, welcome to the forum and a massive well done to getting to day 6 already. Certain situations can make one day harder than another, and you'll get sick of hearing this, it does get better. Many of us just promise ourselves we are not going to smoke today, that way you're not putting any more pressure on yourself. Take it a day at a time, ride out the rough bits and embrace the good bits (there are loads, Malteasers become more delicious than I ever remembered, and M&M's - drool). ;)

Welcome Scarlett, you have done so well getting to day 6:)The first 3 days are the worst and then the first 3 weeks, after that it kind of changes. It becomes a lot more manageable, keep going, you wont regret it that is for sure you have probably made the best decision of your life.:)

Day 6 for me as well and all of a sudden I find myself having to work a bit harder. Just little reminders that my coffee etc would be so much more enjoyable if I had a cigarette to go with it when I thought I'd convinced myself that I was over this.

I know this is rubbish but it is so tempting and very annoying. I'm not giving in this time and I know these feelings will pass - just hope they don't hang about too long.

On the plus side I'm feeling much better in myself, no more having to clear my lungs when I wake up and lots more energy. If I can just get my head right things will be perfect.

I thought things were going too well so I suppose I was prepared for this, let's face it I've had plenty quit practice in the past but I'm determined come hell or high water that this quit is not going to be yet another trial run for me.

Hope you are feeling more confident today.

We've just got to keep reminding ourselves that it will get easier, that there will be good and not so good days, but that WE are going to win our battle.

Thankyou Everyone!

7th day!!! You are all so right! There are so many negatives to smoking and no positives, I woke up this morning, walked outside and took the biggest freshest breath! Such an amazing feel. Also people that smoke stink!!!!! Can't believe I used to smell like that! haha. Thankyou for all the support guys, makes it so much easier to deal with!
