When to tackle the belly!!!

Ok on day 18 smoke free and I think day 13 off the champix and the belly is getting bigger by the day!! I resigned myself to the fact that the size 10s may not fit for a while which is fine but the big jeans are now a bit squeezy and I may soon have to go to work naked as nothing fits!!!

So when to tackle the weight gain? I have quite enjoyed being 'nice' to myself, eating what I want and not going to the gym (have also developed a slight addiction to liquorice!) but with Christmas coming and not wanting to be the fat goose should I just get on the healthy eating and get my bum to the gym or do I let myself munch away for a little bit longer??

Well done for reaching Day 18! :)

I was worried about this too, but found I naturally wanted to get a bit fitter and eat healthier at around month three. Until then I allowed myself to snack on pretty much what I wanted and I didn't panic too much about a diet, but I reached a point when I started to feel a bit sluggish and had low energy levels. So I started to adjust things and tried to snack less. I also tried to walk a little more and be more motivated.

I've been a bit up and down since then, with having some hip problems and now an operation to correct this, but I started Slimming World a few months back and am going to start again this week (I've spent the last six weeks sitting around at home with little exercise and lots of eating), which I'm looking forward to.

I'd say that if it's a question of snacking to stay off the cigs, don't worry too much but just try not to have fattier things all of the time. Also, try to drink plenty of water. Sometimes your body thinks it's hungry, when actually you just need a drink.

Good luck! :D

NicFirth10 Years Smoke Free

Having a prolapsed disc which has messed up my ability to exercise and a habit of brewing rather pleasant ale, I've found that I've gained a few stone over the last couple of years. However I'm still 500% healthier than I was as a smoker.

Puddles

Plenty time for healthy eating my love. One tip, now is the time of the year for huge pots of home made soup, filling, nutritious etc etc

I'm a year plus in, (put on 3 stone) and only now am back to a weight I'm comfortable with, and no more huge red marks round my tummy area!!!!!!!!

I ate for Scorland and was soon even fed up with everything, even Minstrels!!!!!

So, health eating resumed as did lots of lovely extra long walks with the dog.

And I'm sure everyone reading this will be nodding will have had those same red marks!!!!! Big pants were most definitely the order of the day:).

Nutmeg you made me laugh with the red marks I know exactly what you mean!! I think I might start with just not being quite so nice to myself starting tomorrow...maybe!!!

I have been gifted a fold away exercise bike for my birthday next week, the plan is to use it whilst watching television in what would be my after work slob out hour, I'm hoping an hour a day (not necessarily at a frantic pace) plus eating more healthily (not necessarily less) will gradually reduce my food baby to more realistic proportions :p whilst toning up and getting fitter at the same time. It won't take any of my free time as it's time I just slobbed out anyway (previously taken up by fagging it) ;)

I have decided to wait until the 3rd of January to start my diet, one year to the day since my last fag :D That's the plan anyway ;)
