Made it to day 10 :) but these past couple of days I have felt so ill, cough, headache and a horrible sore throat. Is this due to quitting smoking or am I just coming down with something?

Hi Lulu, I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly, It's probably a cold made worse by your body taking full advantage and kicking out all sorts of nasties at the same time. Drink loads, rest loads and hopefully you'll be up and about in no time ;)

I seemed to always get a cold when I went for a quit in the past, including this one. I don't know if it's attributable to quitting, or just bad timing, but quitting puts quite a bit of stress on your body. Stressing the body weakens the immune system so quitting among other things makes it very easy to get a cold.

Its your immune system hun, you are detoxing pretty much and with that the nasties are able to get in easier. I got ill really bad in my first ever cold turkey quit attempt  (2 years ago embaressingly). Hang on in there though, vitamin C for you! Trust the student nurse :D xx

Lulu.

It could be bit if both, but my bet is on your quit. Your Body is working overtime now and so many changes are happening all for the good.

Definitely up your VIT C. Drink lots of water too. A really good thing to do is half fresh lemon juice in cooled down boiled water. Add honey if you need to sweeten, but this is excellent for cleansing and detoxing. X
