Today marks 146 days. I want everyone to know it does get easier, whether you are on day 1, 2, 3 or even thinking about quitting that awful grip of the Nic Demon. When I quit, I thought my life was going to end but I didn't as you can tell...lol I forced myself to quit cold turkey as I felt it would help me stay quit because of what was ahead of me and what I had to go through.

The first 3 days were hell, but after the 3rd day I drastically started feeling so much better. I had so much will power to beat the evilness that I let NOTHING stand in my way. There are days, even though it's been 6 months, that I do think about smoking. Like I have mentioned in a previous post, it's hard to tell whether it is a crave or whether I am just thinking about it. Those thoughts are confusing with a crave. I posted yesterday that I had a major crave, but maybe it was a thought now that I think about it.

I just want you to know when you make it to where I am now you will look back and say to yourself, "really, it's that easy?" yes, it is easy. You can beat it. When you put something into your mind and set your mind to doing it, you CAN accomplish it... It's really a rewiring process of the mind. You really need to rewire your mind to tell yourself you "don't need it." You WILL feel so MUCH better, breathe so much better, sleep better, and walk upstairs a lot better than before. I promise you that you will get through it and as long as you stay focused and tell yourself "No" "NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF" you will succeed. If I can do it, you can as well.

Let's be honest for a minute. Do I miss smoking? Yes, there are "occasions" where I miss it, especially In the morning when I have coffee. But I tell myself I want to live a long life, I want to see the world, and I don't want to die of a smoking related illness. Time is precious enough and I want to live as long as I can. Nothing can be anymore beautiful than waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and alive.

I HAVE faith you can do this. If you need help this group is awesome. The people are caring and understand everything you go through as they have been in your shoes at one point. If you slip, they will be there for you to confide in, If you are emotional, they will give you an Internet hug, or if you just need to vent, they will lend their ear. You got this. Beat up that Nic Demon and keep him out of your life.

WOW! what an amazing post! I can really relate to what your saying about missing it. Not so much missing being a smoker but maybe thinking it would be nice now and then, but as we have all realised it doesnt work like that so better to be a non smoker than a full time smoker and have those fears you have mentioned later in life!

Keep up the good work i wish you all the best as well :D x

That is one awesome post. I've been away for a little while now (I now have a beautifull, chaotic, gorgeous, grumbly little son :D) but had to log in and give cudos to you sir on your words of wisdon. Everyone who is thinking of giving up should read this post. He is right you know, it does get easier and the list of good things to come out of giving up is incredible, you really do owe it to yourself to kick that little nic demons butt hehe :):):)

Oh, yes. Most definitely. To anyone thinking of quitting.......

YOU CAN DO IT. ANYONE CAN DO IT. :D

There are a whole load of reasons ( excuses ) to carry on smoking and, yes, quitting can be hard at times. But quitting is a journey and although it can be bumpy at times, the destination is SO worth it!

Have a good read of the forum; of quitters' experiences, the highs:D, the lows:(, the laughter:D, the tears:o......it's a real rollercoaster of a ride, but there are people here who UNDERSTAND and will help you through the difficult bits. They will also celebrate with you, when you reach your milestones....your first hour, your first day, your second day and so on.

So go on.....take the plunge.......;)
