Today marks 146 days. I want everyone to know it does get easier, whether you are on day 1, 2, 3 or even thinking about quitting that awful grip of the Nic Demon. When I quit, I thought my life was going to end but I didn't as you can tell...lol I forced myself to quit cold turkey as I felt it would help me stay quit because of what was ahead of me and what I had to go through.
The first 3 days were hell, but after the 3rd day I drastically started feeling so much better. I had so much will power to beat the evilness that I let NOTHING stand in my way. There are days, even though it's been 6 months, that I do think about smoking. Like I have mentioned in a previous post, it's hard to tell whether it is a crave or whether I am just thinking about it. Those thoughts are confusing with a crave. I posted yesterday that I had a major crave, but maybe it was a thought now that I think about it.
I just want you to know when you make it to where I am now you will look back and say to yourself, "really, it's that easy?" yes, it is easy. You can beat it. When you put something into your mind and set your mind to doing it, you CAN accomplish it... It's really a rewiring process of the mind. You really need to rewire your mind to tell yourself you "don't need it." You WILL feel so MUCH better, breathe so much better, sleep better, and walk upstairs a lot better than before. I promise you that you will get through it and as long as you stay focused and tell yourself "No" "NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF" you will succeed. If I can do it, you can as well.
Let's be honest for a minute. Do I miss smoking? Yes, there are "occasions" where I miss it, especially In the morning when I have coffee. But I tell myself I want to live a long life, I want to see the world, and I don't want to die of a smoking related illness. Time is precious enough and I want to live as long as I can. Nothing can be anymore beautiful than waking up in the morning feeling refreshed and alive.
I HAVE faith you can do this. If you need help this group is awesome. The people are caring and understand everything you go through as they have been in your shoes at one point. If you slip, they will be there for you to confide in, If you are emotional, they will give you an Internet hug, or if you just need to vent, they will lend their ear. You got this. Beat up that Nic Demon and keep him out of your life.
