Hi 2 weeks now,

reading allen carrs book to reinforce and change the mind set and will dip into chapters again if need be. Going to stay on patches for full term but reading his book has helped so much. takes the feeing of being deprived since stopping which I have always felt in the past. Any1 else found this book useful?

Karen

yes I read the book and used patches and inhalator for a while I feel the book contributed massively and every aid I used got me where I am today. the book definitely changes your pattern of thought

I feel I was a die hard addict that would never be able to quit but here I am over 2 and half year later and clean as a whistle so something click that's for sure

just do what u feel is best your quit is yours and steer it exactly how u want

Yep - I bought it as an audio book and listened to it on my cycle to and from work every day for the first couple of weeks - it absolutely gave me just enough extra strength and motivation to keep me cycling past the petrol station instead of going in more than once in those first couple of days.

Hello, Kaz.

Yes, I read the book and also have the DVD! The dvd seemed to get the message across better for me; I think the illustrations helped!:o

The main message that I got from it was that you smoke to relieve the withdrawal symptoms from your previous fag, so it's a vicious circle that needs to be broken somehow. Champix did that for me. Then I had a "picture" of the nicotine monster in my mind (taken from the dvd) and that was a huge help because I could "see" him struggling when I was not giving in to the craves.

So yes, Allan Carr, Champix and this brilliant forum with it's brilliant people are what are getting me through this journey.

My last fag was on 29th August, too!

Another one for Champix and Allen Carr. I really think this is the combination you need along with the determination to quit. I have been a non-smoker for 9 days now. I actually read the book once I had not smoked for 24 hours... it actually made things easier coz I knew I was already over the difficult bit.

Good luck and RIP Allen Carr !
