First Drink Out . . . .

Well today was my first time out with friends drinking, I was a little worried about this today. Not that I would have one but the thought/panic I would need one as fags and drink go together.

Well I decided at the bar not get my usual pint of larger as I didn't think I was ready for that yet, as years ago when I tried to stop smoking larger made me want a fag all the more because it didn't taste right without a fag!

So I had a pint of John smiths shandy and got a pint of soda water with ice cubes. My reasoning the shandy was nice but the ice cubes if I got a craving would act like a ice pop.

I need not have worried I enjoyed a great afternoon and night with friends both smokers and non smokers. Had 6 pints and not once did I fancy a fag! So proud of myself 5 weeks as a non smoker and I did not want a fag with a drink. The best bit, I do not feel sickly, my mouth tastes nice, I do not feel dizzy, I do not feel like crap and the reason why it's because I don't smoke!

I'm so glad you managed to have a night out without even wanting a fag, how fab is that? Last time I quit, I couldn't drink lager - not 'cos it made me want to smoke but because it tasted wrong :eek: not a problem this time though!!

Also how good you feel the next day!! Don't know about you but I'd hit the fags hard and even though I'm not the world's biggest drinker (despite my reputation on here :p) would always feel pretty crappy the next day. Since quitting though I've only had a couple of hangovers, which I've really deserved, lol.

Congratulations on your determination and your two weeks as a non-smoker.

It's a nice feeling not having to go outside like a leper to feed the addiction you once had! Also you will longer miss parts of the fun, and conversations your friends were having, and even better you wouldn't have to go outside in all kinds of weather.

Thanks every one, proper over the moon with myself. I think I may have been a little tipsy looking at my (larger) ha ha, but yer today been spot on no hangover and been busy today and not once have I thought about them
