I'm new to here, though have been lurking for a week & wanted to say 'Hi' & thank you for your inspiring posts ..
As of this moment, I've been Smokefree for 8 days, 19 hours, 41 minutes & 18 seconds! Yay! My Smokefree app is really really helping with my motivation
I am amazed & so so proud I have made it this far, having smoked 20 a day for 25 years & never having seriously tried to give up before.
I haven't told anybody yet that I've quit, I thought I'd see if I could make it to a week first. I've found it incredibly difficult, even using lozenges & I think about cigarettes every minute I'm awake still. I hope that will ease? I have more energy, my hair smells lovely although I'm needing to clear my throat more the last few days, I guess that's my lungs clearing.
For the first time I don't feel like a 'slave' to ciggies & that's the best feeling. I hope I'm strong enough to keep going. If I make it to a month I'm gonna treat myself to some Vivienne Westwood earrings. Good Luck to us all xx

Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I too love the fact that my hair smells lovely nowadays! Your throat will start clearing after a few weeks - mine did anyway. It does get much easier too where you only think of smoking a fe times a day (and they aren't bad craves either). I haven't yet reached the day where I haven't thought about it at all but I am eagerly awaiting it.
Good luck with your quit and remember we are all here to help.
Welcome Rebecca!!! I only told my boss and my partner when I quit. I was afraid I would fail and be embarrassed. So - I kept quiet until about day 10.
I found the first couple weeks the toughest and it seemed like I thought about smoking every 30 seconds. I do still think about smoking everyday - but go hours without it entering my mind. So - it does get easier and will continue to get easier. I do feel great and continue to feel better as time goes on. My body is just healthier. I smell better, I have more energy, my skin and hair look more healthy and most important.... I am a happier person! You are strong enough to beat this!!!! Not smoking won't knock you down - but smoking surely will. Fight the fight and win! Always Always remember - NOPE. Not One Puff Ever!!! We are all here to support you!
You've made a brilliant start, huge well done to you!!
You're right about the tickly cough, that's how mine started - but it's good to start clearing all the muck out.
The freedom is one of the best parts of quitting, thinking that you can stay where you are without "having" to go out for a smoke - the whole thing is a huge, nicely spun trap isn't it?

Hi Rebecca, it sounds like you've made a great start!
There are more positives to come yet, don't you worry.
It is normal to think about ciggies pretty much every second of the day. I honestly thought I'd never stop thinking about them, but that will start to change slowly and one day you'll suddenly realise that you've gone a whole hour without thinking about smoking!
Please, just keep looking at that app and reminding yourself of this amazing achievement. Try not to worry about how difficult you might be finding it or how long you'll manage. Stay positive and treat yourself as much as you can afford to! Positivity really is a massive help in making your quit so much easier, so stay happy and come and have a good moan if you feel a struggle coming on. It works!!
Keep us posted and carry on enjoying those perks  x
I am new to this forum as well and I cannot say I am very active, I mean, don’t write every day, but only reading and being here is also very helpful for me.
If I count well, we started on the same day, so we are quit sisters!
I've only told the husband that I've quit, i felt that keeping it quiet would ease the pressure. So I have found this forum a brilliant place to come to if I want to talk, and it has helped me so much!
I keep looking at my smoking app and if I get a craving I just think how devastated I would be if I have to reset that counter to zero after all this hard work!
