Just thought I'd let you folks know that I've completed a year of gcse s and have just got my results and iv passed em all. Been quit for nearly 2 years , my how time has flown. Im a completely different person , well I feel different. I did gcse s cos I was wanting to go into nursing and u need gcse maths and English .... but I've slept since and have decided to do an art degree cos I've always wanted to do it and all year I've felt a pull towards the art studio at college. Ive had my interviews and been accepted so here I go . it feels very much like an adventure Im 56 now and have smoked most of my life now I just want to live and now that ive quit I find I have no time to put up with worrying about careers and such nonsense .I don't know that many people on here these days and am here very rarely .Its funny how I was on the forum 24 7 at first and couldn't have quit without the fantastic support I received I wish everybody well with their quits ,u can do it if I can and it is so worth it. Cheers folks.XXXX

(((((A BIG WELL DONE)))))
I know what u mean Carol it seems weird to cast my mind back to the few days before I actually quit where I was so scared of quitting because I was pretty much convinced that It would be too hard to do. It turned out to be much easier than I thought. Most things are. I found with quitting that life itself supports us to do it. Its good to hear that that you and Una are still around . its great to see names from the good old days. Listen to me I sound like I'm referring to a decade ago but its less than 2 years. hope your quits are going well and your both ok. Cheers
Mash x

Congratulations
Congratulations Mash - that's just fantastic - the things you've been able to do since you've stopped smoking are just wonderful.
Do you think it was stopping smoking gave you the confidence to do your GCEs? Was it mainly about confidence or were there so many changes in you that it's too difficult to narrow it down to one thing?
You're an inspiration to many.
Well done Boo losing 3.5 stone. I gained 3.5 stone and still cant shift it. im hoping it will disappear soon have quit sugar in my tea and coffee .In fact my coffee and T consumption has practically gone down to 2 cups a day from about 10. I just don't fancy it anymore. @ Nonico Im not sure that quitting smoking inspired me to do gcses it was more out of necessity. I needed the qualifications or I thought I did at the time.
Hi Mash
Great to hear you are doing so well.
Thought as we were have a good old days post I would just add a bit more.
Were they the good old days?
Hmmm perhaps not so good. The big turning point for me was hitting the year mark. It was then that I knew I had definitely cracked it. So since the year mark I have lost 2 stone, am able to get out and run again. Been doing up to 5 miles. Bought myself the second best bike in the world (probably) Dippy has the best.
Feel fit, healthy and my confidence has sored.
WHY
Because I stopped smoking.
All you other poster stick at it. It will be the best thing you have ever done
