Day 3.....

That's 57 hours. i suppose I can say I've really stopped once I stop counting in hours, but 57 hours sounds longer than Day 3 and I can say: Wow!! Look what I've done!!! 57 hours!!!!! Whoop! Whoop!

It's been ok so far. Having problems getting the patch to stay on but a big piece of elastoplast sorts that out. I find the mini lozenges absolutely disgusting, so am just sticking to normal chewing gum.

I haven't had any bad cravings, it's more a kind of sadness at giving up on the ritual of sitting outside and blowing smoke around, the comfort of the cigarette in my mouth. Like a very old baby blowing bubbles and using a dummy.

I downloaded an app on my phone. (A free one) I think it's quite good, combines relaxation and encouragement. Unfortunately it worked so well that I fell asleep and missed the end, but I'll try it again later today.

I am finding the threads on here, very helpful.

That's brilliant Violet!! The empty feeling should pass once your mind has accepted that you aren't giving anything up. You are freeing yourself from a nasty drug, and aren't missing out on anything. Reading the Allen Carr book really helped me with this part - even though I didn't agree with everything he said.

Roll on week 2!!!!

Hi Violet, I used one of those apps too and it must have been about 2 weeks before I heard the end. I only used it to try it and I hadn't any intentions of quitting but the app put the thought in my mind. As for the mini lozenges, I thought they were disgusting too but soon got to like them. I found the niquitin patches hard to stick so used nicorette. Well done. Getting through the first 3 days is the worst.

Thank you all for your support. It does really make a difference. I'm just back from the Smoking Cessation Lady and my Carbon Monoxide reading is 1. Last Saturday it was 5, so I'm feeling really chuffed.

I'm getting on fine with the Allen Carr book. (I originally thought it was by that really annoying "chatty" man and wasn't going to bother.)
