It's seven years this month since I quit. I smoked 10 packs a week so at todays prices I've not spent a staggering £27,300 on cigarettes.
I suppose the biggest benefit though is that at 49 I'm in no doubt that I'm fitter now than when I was 39.
I don't miss smoking at all but I still occasionally have a dream that I'm smoking and feel very guilty then feel relieved to wake up and realise it didn't happen.
Good luck to all who are just setting out on this road. It's not easy, but it is do-able and the long term rewards are worth the short term effort

Hi there, so wonderful to hear from such a long time quitter:D
Also ,personally, really good to hear you still get the dreams...my first was last night!
I'm not quite at your age, very nearly though, but I do really wish that I had given up at 42 or even earlier...having given up for only 9 weeks, I wish I had the guts to believe and give up 9 years, or even 19/29 years ago...maybe the best to have never started!
Thank you for coming and sharing your success- pure inspiration xxxx
