I say sort of because while i had my last cigarette at 8am 2 weeks ago today, i did blast an e-cig for 2 days before deciding to drop that as well, so 2 weeks smoke free, 12 days completely free.
Plain sailing so far, closest temptation i've had has been working nightshift for 3 nights with 2 heavy smokers. They smoked, i watched. This was soon made up for by the fact that they stank, i retched.
Now, to get over the pesky first night out without deciding (wrongly, again) that i can just be a 'social smoker' & i'm home free.

Just have to keep reminding myself that my next cigarette will cost me thousands of pounds, paid in installments of £8 a day.
That's a brilliant way of thinking about it!!
It's actually quite scary, but I've been quit 5 months and have already saved over £1200 - and I wouldn't have thought twice about spending that money, was just like buying food or something :/
There's no such thing as just one, my previous attempts are solid proof of that.
That's so true.
It's an old trap, "just one" but it is a trap.
My last quit was 18 months long, and I thought that somehow I was un-addicted but unfortunately not.
You are doing brilliantly MrE and as you rightly say there is no such thing as a social smoker, just one on the way to being a full time smoker! Keep strong and I know you will be a successful quitter this time!
My last quit was 18 months long, and I thought that somehow I was un-addicted but unfortunately not.Yeah, my longest quit was 18 months. The thought of smoking again didn't even enter my head. Then i was having a drink & someone offered me one.
Stupidly took it & was back on 20 a day by the end of that week. MASSIVE regret.
Just look at it this way-life goes by pretty quickly, the years roll past and there will come a time that you will look back at what you have done-personally I want to look back and think ah yes-that is when I quit fags at last by deliberate choice, and went on to save a packet and protect my precious health. NOT lying in a bed, with tubes coming out of my nose and unable to move, with a disinterested nurse filling out a form at a desk, and thinking
'I wish I had quit all those years ago'
DON'T wish-DO IT quit NOW. and STAY quit,'cos this is the real thing not a rehearsal.
Or end up like my neighbour - oxygen tubes up his nose and e-cig in his mouth. Poor bloke died in November last year.
I've heard the c-word too many times in this past couple of years, i work with someone who's down to 30% lung capacity because of COPD & the sound of her attempts to draw breath is awful.
Last thing i ever want is to be told i've got a disease & to know that i caused it. How do you put yourself & your loved ones through that knowing that you've basically paid to get ill? Really doesn't bear thinking about.
