Hi Shauna

You need a 'quit plan' and you need to stick to it.Go see your doctor who will be supportive and help you make a plan, then decide a quit date and come back here so we can support you :D

Great idea. :D

It's always better if you can be prepared, and that also gives your head time to get used to the idea as well.

I'm sure your GP will be able to help you with this and give you more confidence as well :)

Please come back and let us know how you get on!

April Fools quit day

I started April 1st as quit day. Last night I woke up a lot is that normal. I kept candy next to me and asked everyone to please smoke outside away from while I get through 1st view weeks so not to be tempted. Sorry I may be on when possible talking about makes it easier

Disturbed sleep is completely normal when you first quit. I had three awful nights where I hardly slept and when I did I had nightmares. Since then I've been fine though.

Oh dear Shauna :(

I can definitely help with the nightmares - i was on patches too, and left them on 24h like the box said. Doing that got me 3-5 hours sleep, waking up all the time and horrible nightmares so taking it off before you go to bed really helps!! Then pop it on first thing and you'll be fine :)

The patches worked really well for me apart from that, but i did use gum as well when I got a crave.

Well done for getting to day three:) Its not easy, but if you really want to stop

You can, I have smoked for forty years and tried umpteen times to stop, but this time I really really wanted to Quit. I have not found it easy at all but I can promise you it does get less hard as time goes on as others have said get yourself a Quit plan and get all the help you need to help you through it, there are loads of good tips on this forum that people have passed on. Every ones Quit is different but the end result is the same, feeling healthier, not stinking of smoke, not spending our hard earned cash on slowly killing ourselves. Im in my fourth month now but I know I still have a long way to go. Stay on this forum and have a good rant if you need to, we are all in the same boat and really support each other so welcome aboard and good luck :)

Oh and can't use patches CVS pharmacist said I was allergic to them no gum Burns throat any other ideas I'm trying to stay with patch and wear half day instead of all day. All advice is welcome.
