Allen Carr's book :D

Have read a bit already, and am sure it's going to make a huge difference to me!!

What I've read makes a lot of sense :D

While I don't smoke and am happy to never smoke again, I do use an e-cig so I can sort of follow his instruction to keep "smoking" and I don't like the taste of the damn thing anyway!!

One side effect of that I wasn't expecting is that I'm sure I can smell cigarettes on my breath

Well here goes and let's see what happens :D

Gemma xx

I haven't read much of it yet, but the amount of times I've found myself saying "oh!" or nodding 'cos it makes total sense is amazing!!

Am thinking it's going to make a huge difference to me, might take a couple of reads but heck it's going to work!!

Thank you and Kat for giving me a push to buy it :) xx

He talks about a chapter where you actually stop, and that chapter puts some people off from finishing the book, dont take too much notice of that, just read it then if you need to read it again :)

Am guessing for me that means putting the e-cig away!!

Anyway, in the bit I've read so far, he talks about noticing what smoking tastes and feels like - well actually i can't remember (YIPPEE) but do know the e-cig tastes foul and it's making the inside of my mouth feel funny and my throat a bit sore.

It's not a magic spell but if you absorb and consider what he says it will greatly help get that head right.;)

I'm hoping it's going to reprogramme my brain because there is still a tiny part of me that thinks I'm missing out, know i'm not *but* hopefully the book will zap that bit!!

It's working already!! :D

Ooh and anything that helps would be fab, thanks!!

I think for a heavy smoker who is thinking about stopping, but not so sure, this book must be very scary. He tells you at the beginning that you must finish, even though later on you will become fearful.

I read it when quit so I didn't find that this affected me really. I'd already done the hard part, it was more about becoming positive for me.

Gemma, I also found myself nodding along and occasionally laughing out loud at the brutal honesty of Mr Carr and the fact that he totally understands the smoker and everything that comes along with being addicted.

I had that little niggle too hun (though mine was quite a big one) and I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it. I really felt like I was missing out.

The book simply removed that fear and the feeling of loss.

It really changes the way you think and I'm sure it'll do just the trick! :) xxx

Mine was really bad earlier on - especially after a drink or two  but it got smaller - just want to get rid of it completely now!!

Knowing the book got rid of those bits is fab, 'cos that's all I need to zap really :) xxx

I wasn't a heavy smoker, but a couple of years ago I was really beating myself up about smoking and read some of Allen Carr's book on Amazon's preview thingy and that bit put me off!! Wish I'd bought the flipping thing now.

I read it when quit so I didn't find that this affected me really. I'd already done the hard part, it was more about becoming positive for me.

That's the same as where i am now, just got to kick the addiction, which he says is dead easy so it should be OK

Some of his lines are really funny!!

I think it really helps that he's been there so he knows how it feels, and it helps how he puts his own experiences in there!!

Lol, thanks - I think :p

Am definitely feeling different for reading as far as I have, and am definitely going to blast the nicotine monster to tiny bits!!

I'm glad our quits were at the same time too - you've definitely helped me stay off the fags :D

I found I was completely ready to stop smoking before I'd even finished the book. I did also find the stopping experience enjoyable just like he said it would be. The way it helped me was that I was prepared for what would happen and how I would feel. It gives you an understanding of nicotine addiction and 'knowing your enemy' made it all a million times easier than previous attempts!

E-cigs do taste vile, I tried them in a previous unsuccessful quit but ultimately they drove me back to the normal fags so I knew this time I had to do it without nicotine and that's what Allen Carr helps you do.

You'll be nicotine free before you know it :)

Although I don't smoke any more I *do* have to quit the e-cig and I'm helping this book, and his other one will help me to do that very soon!!

Mine's foul, it hurts my throat, takes the lining off the inside of my mouth and am sure it's starting to give me a smoker's cough, which is ironic 'cos I hardly coughed before.

Stupid e-cig

I also decided to ditch the e-cig (mainly because I felt like I couldn't reap the benefits of the book while still using it occasionally).

Allen Carr has made me realise that I'm forever going to be "withdrawing" from nicotine if I carry on using it even only once a week. Also, like you've both said, it doesn't taste very nice and hurts my throat!

I reckon I've used mine a maximum of 4 times (maybe the equivalent of 2 cigarettes) in the last 3 weeks. But I went out on Friday night, didn't drink too much, and came home thinking that I "deserved" to use my e-cig because I'd managed all evening without a cigarette  How sick is that?!

So I have had enough. I am going to trust Allen, even if it means reading his books a million times over, and try to believe that this can be achieved the EASYWAY. Now, if this brainwashing would only sod off ...

I agree completely :)

The parts he said about "social smokers" really shocked me and it did make me realise I have to be off this thing and soon.

You're at the point where you're not actively addicted to nicotine (although you are an addict, we all are hence the problem) but by using it as a "trat" or reward, you're reinforcing the "cigarettes are good" brainwashing.

It *is* better than smoking, but it isn't good to keep feeding the monster and the brainwashing.

Mine's sodding off, and hopefully yours will too :D
